General Medical Services

baby_examination Morning and afternoon surgeries (a copy of the GPs' timetable is available from reception).

Baby Clinic (for well babies only)

Babies are seen by appointment only (you may book on the day you wish to be seen). If your child is unwell do not bring to the baby clinic, but make an appointment in a normal surgery. Clinics are held at both surgeries. The practice nurse will be available with the doctor to immunise and give advice.

Child Health Surveillance

To monitor the progress and immunisation of children under five years of age.

Contraceptive And Family Planning Services

The Practice provides full contraceptive services including contraceptive implants and intrauterine devices. Please contact reception who will you an appointment to discuss your needs further.

Chronic disease care

Our practice team manages the chronic disease monitoring of many long term conditions including

Asthma
Epilepsy
Cancer
Hypertension (raised blood pressure)

Drug Rehabilitation

The Practice and drug team will share the care of patients with a drug abuse problem.

Alcohol - Management of Problematic Drinking

The Practice and alcohol team will share the care of suitable patients.

Anticoagulation

The Practice monitors stable patients who take warfarin.

Hospital-prescribed Drugs

The Practice monitors patients who take specific medications prescribed by the hospital when we have agreed to share care with them.

Vaccination

The Practice invites all eligible groups to take advantage of preventive vaccinations including influenza, COVID, shingles and pneumococcal vaccinations.

Patients wishing to lose weight; specialist dietary needs of patients (ie diabetic patients).

Cervical Smears

This is a simple test, usually carried out by specially trained nurses. The Practice recommends that all women should have a smear test every three years at which time you will be sent a reminder. If for any reason your smear is abnormal, you will automatically be sent an appointment for the colposcopy clinic.

Teenagers and young people can talk confidentially to a nurse on all aspects of sexual health.

Health Care Assistants

The Practice employs health care assistants who, under the guidance of the practice nurses, can provide the following services:

Blood tests
Blood pressure checks
New patient health checks
NHS health checks
Diabetic foot checks
ECG/heart traces

Rotherham North PCN

We are part of a group of practices called Rotherham North Primary Care Network (PCN)

Through the PCN we have access to a wider primary care team to help care for our patients, this includes pharmacists, physiotherapists, social prescribers, paramedics, pharmacy technicians, mental health practitioners and a dementia specialist nurse.

Health Visitors

Health visitors are nurses employed by NHS Rotherham, who work from our medical centres and specialise in preventative medicine and health education. They are particularly concerned in helping families with child care.

District Nurses

They visit at home and care for patients who are too ill to come to the surgery.

Community Matron

The community matron manages patients with multiple complex long-term conditions, ensuring that all their health and physiological care needs are met. Patients’ conditions include heart failure, COPD, diabetes, Parkinsons and hypertension. The community matron seeks to prevent unnecessary hospital admissions.

Community Midwife

The community midwife shares the care of all mothers before and after delivery. In addition the midwife attends the antenatal clinics held at each centre and, with the doctor, provides full maternity medical services.

Non-NHS/Private Services

non_nhs_services4 Examinations for insurance, employment, driving and legal purposes are not covered by the National Health Service.

The receptionist will advise you of the fee when you arrange your appointment.

If you require any travel vaccinations then you should contact us well in advance of travel. You will need to complete a travel questionnaire and pass to our reception at least 8 weeks before departure.

You can collect a form from reception or use the link below. You should then contact reception after 3 working days to make an appointment with the practice nurse (who will have assessed your needs). Please note that we may have to order vaccine stocks for you and you may also need a follow up appointment. All this will be explained to you by the nurse.

Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.
